Hi,

I am looking for a kitchen company that have their workshop and design their kitchens within the UK. I want a bespoke kitchen, that doesnt cost the earth.

We have had an appointment with Tom Howley, and I just dont want to pay that much for cabinets. We have a very large kitchen that needs to be furnished, and 90k+ was just too much.

I really am after bespoke, but also want a kitchen that is good quality, and robust, not made from MDF, I have two kids, and so it also needs to be durable.

I like the idea of a kitchen that is handmade in the UK, and have a design and fitting service with good designers, that can think outside the norm.

Does anyone know of a company that can do this? I am happy to travel throughout the UK in search of this company.

I have an appointment with Parlour Farm, just not sure of costs, although I gather they will be cheaper than TH. I hear mixed reviews about them.. so interested if anyone here has a kitchen made by them and what they think?

I have looked at Olive& Barr, but their cabinetry seems quite flimsy in comparison.

Anyone else that anyone knows I could try?

Thanks

I’m not sure where in the country you are, but my dream kitchen is from Alexander Lewis in Market Harborough. They make bespoke units in a range of colours and styles.

Have a look at Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch, if you're near one of their showrooms. They design, although you have to make an initial provisional order (I think). Or there's Naked Kitchens.

I found a local kitchen company and asked them to copy a Plain English cupboard design, which they were happy to do. They also supplied the worktops and fronts of cupboards to the same design. I kept the carcasses of the old cupboard run and of a dresser and got them to make new soft close drawers.

I also called Plain English and found out the brand and colour of the paint for the kitchen and bought that. And the cabinet handle makers for them, I got them made by the same company but in a different material as I wanted nickel not brass.

I got a local joiner to install it all. I also bought the tiles myself from Fired Earth and got him to put them up (there weren't many, just about 30 behind the oven) and I bought the range separately from Aga and paid someone to install it.

The whole kitchen was about £15k. I already had a dishwasher and didn't need to replace the flooring. I also bought wall and ceiling lights separately and paid for installation.

@Barnabyted Do you know rough price of Alexander Lewis?? I will check them out, only 45 minutes drive from MH.

@QueenofTheBorg thats fascinating.. which kitchen company did you use? sounds like a good idea to keep costs down if I could pull it off. 🙈

@LadyDancelot thats great I will check them out, and see if there is a retailer near me
