Funds from property sale

How long did it take for you to receive the funds from your property sale? I'm looking to complete tomorrow. There is no chain and I'm not buying another property. When should I expect to receive the money from the sale?

How have you asked for the funds to be transferred to you? Some ways are quicker

Yes well when I first instructed the solicitor they asked for my bank account details.

My mother had her funds at completion.. so actually they arrived in her account before the solicitor made the call to say it had all happened.

If you don't 'need' the cash quickly though there are cheaper/slower banking methods which might take a few days - however I think the solicitors use the quick one as (used to be?) More secure?

We bought and sold recently and had some monies paid to us. Solicitor paid it in on completion day and it cleared straight away.

Thanks for your responses. I was hoping I would get the money on completion so that sounds promising!

When my daughter moved recently she got a text from the previous owner while we were waiting in the car for the EA to bring the keys to the property saying Thanks, I’ve just received the money in my account. So it was a very short time after Completion.

We recently broke the chain, however it took 6 days (including weekend) but our solicitors to transfer the money (our purchase was less than our sale in value). They seemed surprised we wanted it before the whole process was complete which baffled us a bit.

They probably just wanted to get some interest from it sitting in their own bank account- cheeky fuckers!

Your solicitor should have already confirmed this with you in writing, together with the details of your bank account. If you can't find it in your documents, give them a ring or email them.
