Hello everyone, just wondered what peoples thoughts are on my situation.

I paid the mortage off in july and have taken an easier job on 4 days a week.
Im left with £1800 a month disposable income now plus £295 a month profit from a buy to let.

Im very greatful for where im at however i have a problem.

I live in a semi and the party wall is paper thin and the noise coming through the walls is proper burning my head out i cant relax in my own home and i sleep in the spare room.

My house will sell for between £200,000 to £190,000.

Ive seen a nice detached that i love for sale up at £250,000.

Would the small mortgage be worth it?
Payments would be around £290 per month.

Part of my says go for it?
Part of my says stay mortgage free even though im unhappy in my home.

Sorry for the rant

Cheers.
Ben.

Do it.
Being mortgage free is amazing, but not as amazing as not being able to hear your neighbours fart, have sex, argue, their endless tv etc etc.

Worth every penny, move!

LindaDawn · 04/08/2024 16:42

Move!

blackcherryconserve · 04/08/2024 16:49

As pp have said already, move.

How about selling the BTL and you could still move into the detached house and be mortgage free? The way things are going it seems being an "amateur" landlord is going to be increasingly difficult/time consuming/expensive.

Tupster · 04/08/2024 19:38

Do it. You can afford it and life's too short to be unhappy in your own home.

leeverarch · 04/08/2024 19:54

How old are you? It would be silly to have repaid your mortgage in full and then take out another one unless you are fairly young and still have many years of working left to pay it off.
