Hello
just wondering what kind of security people have (and companies they might use) for their home?

We want to get an alarm system, but also cameras.

I have no idea where to start though.

appreciate any advice , thanks

Local installers with NSI certification are always a very good start. Usually provide a more personal service and tend to rely on recommendations so try to give good, quality work.

All security companies can give you options for Video Surveillance and Intruder Detection systems. Most, but not all, systems can be integrated

Any company that spouts NACOSS are to be avoided as well. NACOSS was changed to NSI, companies who are NSI Approved know it. Also, decide if you want your system remotely monitored. Don't be pushed into it if you don't want/need it. Some companies earn more by tying you down to long term monitoring contracts.

Always, always avoid the crappy companies like Veresure that advertise on day time TV. Veresure continue to lie about their accreditation.

Also, avoid ADT. Unfortunately, their days of being a good, trustworthy company have long gone. I worked for them for 18 years (before they started doing small houses and corner shops)

I've just retired last week, after 36 years in the Security industry. From install and Service to Design Consultant. Too many cowboys trying to rip off naive buyers.

I'm interested in this information too.

By the way, are you out during the day? I don't like working at night as there can be some unsavoury types about when it is dark.
