What colour kitchen cabinets?

We're planning on having our kitchen cabinets spray painted. They are currently a pinkish cream colour which I really don't like.

But what colour should they be with this work surface? It's grey with purpleish brown bits.

I was thinking dark green but not sure if it will go. We have lots of blues and greens in the house but walls in the kitchen are currently white

Navy blue?

poetryandwine · 28/07/2024 20:26

I know it is classic rather than current, but I think white would go well with that. It may not exactly be in style but it’s never hopelessly out, either

I would also go for neutral, white or off white. I think colours age much faster.

Pale sage would look good with that counter.

I would go with a dark green

I'd lean in to the purpley-brown bits & go for aubergine (but am a gothy type with a love of the naff, so maybe ignore me!).

Radionowhere · 30/07/2024 21:28

I'm liking cashmere at the moment but that's maybe too close to what you're getting rid of

Ilovemyshed · 30/07/2024 21:32

I'd go with a pale warm greige - look at a colour called New York City Winter in the Valspar range. Then add colour on the walls or keep it pale and neutral.

Whats on the floor?

JC03745 · 30/07/2024 21:37

What is the kitchen style/door cabinet style etc? Modern, country, shaker? How large is the kitchen and how good is the light?

My immediate thought was an off white, not as dark as a cream for the doors, but really depends if you are going for a sleek, shiny, modern look or a country style/shaker?

We've just spent 2yrs renovating, including a new kitchen. We had multiple samples to bring home and compare to the work top and other colours. Have you asked for samples?

GranolaGranolaGranola · 31/07/2024 10:10

Thanks all! So many options...

The flooring is a walnut coloured and the kitchen is gloss but not high gloss if that makes sense. Not shaker style anyway - just plain doors.

I'd be trying to find a paint that was a close match to the greenish grey strands that run through the work top - Farrow and Ball French Grey would be a good place to start but try a few brands and get it as close as you can.http://moderncountrystyle.blogspot.com/2014/03/colour-study-farrow-and-ball-french-gray.html
