Location of shower niche

I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who has a shower niche on the same wall as the shower fixtures - is this a good location, or is niche constantly flooded from shower spray?

More detail -

Plan is to have shower rose coming out of back wall of shower enclosure with a riser rail with handshower directly underneath it. If we then place a shower niche to the side of the riser rail on that same back wall of the enclosure, will the niche be constantly flooded? The water from the shower rose wouldn't fall directly into it, as the pole for the rose is long enough to make it project a fair way out - my concern is about water splashing off the people showering into the niche. Expect a bit of splash, obviously - but I don't want everything in there being pummelled for the full duration of shower leading to mushy bars of soap etc!

Who knew a small shelf could occupy so much headspace?!

I had my bathroom done this year and have 2 niches on the same back wall as the shower hose. While convenient for grabbing bottles, it’s the worst thing I had done. Shower spray doesn’t directly go in there but somehow they are awash. After every shower I have to squeegee cold water out of them. My kids don’t do that after theirs so I do it 3 times a day!
Doesn’t help that there is a lip on the edge of the tiling and no slight incline to help drainage. If I had my chance again I’d be moving the niches or just getting a sucker shelf for bottles!

We have two niches on the wall where the shower fixings are. They are absolutely fine.

Thank you!

@ApolloandDaphne did you do anything to prevent water pooling there?
