Where to move - Surrey

Hi there,

Moving from SW London - budget £800k maybe £825k at a stretch. Moving as we want more space - ideally spacious 3 bed or 4 bed with at least 2 bathrooms.

Need to have good primary schools nearby. Ideally walkable to a station for commute into London (once a week maybe twice). Would consider driving/cycling if we had to.

Considering Godalming, Farncombe, Guildford, Haslemere but not sure we can get quite the space we want. Wondering if we are missing any good options. Ideal size is something like Godalming.

Thanks so much,

Have you checked other side of Surrey? Caterham, Oxted, Godstone, Lingfield

No we haven’t - we don’t know it as well but will take a look. Thanks!

Caterham and Godstone are not best placed for stations.

Go further down the Waterloo-Portsmouth into Hampshire, Liphook, Liss or Petersfield may fit the bill.

Caterham's ok.

Easier if you go a mile or so inwards as then you have two lines to choose between.

I think you need to change your budget or where you are looking to move to.

Go a short drive (under 10 min) from a station on the line you want, parking is really reasonable fiver a day, and you get more space.

We love reigate!

I think you may need to look further into Hampshire, the Winchester Basingstoke lines serve some lovely town and villages.

Take a look at alresford and surrounding areas great schools and feed into good a level college.

You would maybe get a 3 bed for that budget.

Alton is slightly further afield but has great schools.

Ooh yes. Alresford is lovely, a small market town with good schools. The secondary school is especially great for sports and performing arts.

I live in Farnham and it's so lovely.

Oh and good train line too, it is lovely.

doubleshift · 25/07/2024 23:34

You might get that in one of the villages but not walking to the stations you mentioned. As you only need the station once a week it is really not worth the premium on house price
