Buying a house in Wythenshaw

Please advise, I have just seen a lovely house in Wythenshawe that has all that we need and within our price range - 350. However, it is less than 1 mile from Benchill. I am new to Manchester, I have heard of the reputation and read about the potential risks. Some of what I've read are quite dated but friends have shared some personal cases. I really love the house but I am quite worried about my teens. Please could someone advise if it is worth taking the risk. Have things changed in the area? Thank you

Agree with @RunMamaJustRun , even the ’nicer’ parts of Chorlton are plagued by scrotes. It’s become so much worse as an area since Covid. Yet the minimum house price is 500k. And that Wilmslow link another poster has provided is to a house on an estate where there are similar issues.

Edited

As someone quite familiar with Wilmslow there is absolutley zero knife crime on that estate, maybe the odd asbo on that side of the estate but Lacey Green is generally pretty safe nowadays where you could walk alone at night with little worry. It is no where near comparable to Wythenshawe or Chorlton. 😅

Thank you very much everyone. I have learnt so much from all of you and your experiences have really put things into context for me. We've decided to look at Northenden and Trafford areas now and location will be paramount on our list now.

Please does anyone have any thoughts on Melbecks Walk. I know it is in Northenmoor, Wythenshawe but just on the border of Sale. It is very close to the kid's school so wondering if that area is worth looking at. I am cautious because it is still in Wythenshawe. Thanks a lot for your help

It's not too bad there, but if it's Sale High you're talking about there are houses in your price range that are in slightly better areas in my opinion. I'd rather buy the one on Conway Road that a pp posted.
