Where in the Cotswolds for a young family (and dog)

DP and I are looking to move house next year and are considering the Cotswolds.

Our budget will be £700k max but would be more comfortably at £650 and <.

We would be looking for a four bed period property (or three bed with ability to extend) as we are looking to grow our family of three (and dog). Plus we both work from home some of the week.

It would need to be on or near the Cotswold train line that runs Moreton in Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury, Oxford and Reading as we both work in Reading.

Looking for a nice (pretty not too touristy) village, safe, good schools (state) with possibly a good SEN provision (our son is awaiting assessment for ASD) although if it is its mild).

We are considering the Cotswold for a change of lifestyle not just a home.

Where would everyone recommend we look/avoid. Any advice welcome.

Charlbury is a lovely village, big enough to have pubs and shops. Can't comment on the school as my kids are adults!

We have relatives who live in Painswick and it's absolutely lovely. Very good for families with a lovely community feel. Not sure if it works in regards to the train links though!

The line to Cheltenham via Stroud/Kemble also runs direct to Reading.
