Replacing pointing between paving slabs

We had our patio paved a couple of years ago. The builders used some sort of brush in pointing that looks like sand but sets hard.
I've noticed this summer that it is crumbling in places and some bits have come away altogether.
What would you repair it with? The same stuff? I could use mortar but then it won't match the rest of the patio. Not sure what to do!

You can buy a dye for mortar to darken it.

You want jointing compound, which you brush in and wet and it sets. It comes in all colours so you can match your existing.
