Is this quote reasonable?

We're having our bathroom redone. It's a large bathroom 5.5m by 2.7m.

Have had a quote for labour 7.5k materials such as plaster, tile adhesive etc 2.5-3k. other stuff is on top such as suite / flooring/ tiles.

The job involves ripping out current suite and tiles. Stripping back everything and then reorganising pipe work a bit. Then they'll refit boards plus insulation plus then plaster the room. Then fit bathroom suite, change radiators, full tile round shower and then half tile rest of the room. Mist coat whole room. Fit out a cupboard (current shower is being changed to a cupboard) and install doors. Finally fitting flooring, probably luxury vinyl tile. Cost also includes removal and disposal of all waste.

He's come recommended by someone who has done lots of work for us. But he's also expensive relative to other quotes but he seems to be able to do everything which is something I do like.

What would you say, does it sound reasonable?

It looks right to me. It cost us just under 11k for a slightly smaller bathroom with separate shower about 3 years ago. This included everything. I was also shocked at the time. I remember checking out all the materials he had listed online and they came in at 4.5k, not including the tiles. I accepted it.

You could get another quote to compare.

I would have said about £10k for that so yes think it's reasonable. Also you really don't want to cut corners with a bathroom as you can have endless problems if things are not done properly. So the recommendation would have a value to me too.

Really depends if all your pipe works in the right place to start with and the quality of the suite you’re using and tiling you could do it cheaper just depends what you want

If the contractor does good quality work, the quote is very reasonable. On top of everything else, the tiling is very fiddly and time consuming work. It took two days to retile our shower.

Sounds reasonable to me. We had a new bathroom fitted, no bath, good size room, for just over £10k 4 years ago.
