Building control advice please - what happens if you start early?

Hello, everyone. Hoping for a bit of advice.

We’re knocking through the wall between our kitchen and living room. We went with private building control. They sent me a quote, which I accepted via online portal on 28 June. I then assumed I didn’t need to do anything else around that.

We started building works on 5 July. On the evening of 5 July, I got an email from them (private building control) saying that the initial notice had been submitted to the LA and not to begin work for 5 working days. On Monday, 8 July, I got an email confirming that the notice had been accepted and work could now start.

So, basically, we started a day early (our builders don’t work weekends). Do I need to inform anyone of this and might we get fined?

It'll be fine, how will they even know? Just make sure your builder liaises directly with them to make sure they inspect at all the right points.
