Paint, render, or?

Red brick house, Georgian style. Planning on extending over the double garage. Very doubtful we would get matching bricks. Would you render the whole property or paint the bricks? Or washboard top and render bottom? Or something entirely different

Really need a photo.
But once you render you have a painting job for life.
And if you paint the bricks it could look awful, and there's no going back.
Washboard? Is it in keeping or will it look 'tacked on'?
You may be able to match the bricks, if you can't find the source, it might be worth removing one, from a discrete place as sometimes they have a manufacturers name or code on.
Finally, you could try and find a complementary / contrasting colour brick and use that. Although you may need to re-front the existing garage so it doesn't look a hodge-potch (I love that word!)

Here you go! I don’t think washboard would work. Thanks

You will be able to get bricks that match and weather in. Render might look incongruous. It's also more expensive than you realise. Speaking from experience. Go with brick and once it's done you'll never have to think about it again.

You need to order brick samples from the main manufacturers to find the one that works best. Weinberger. Ibstock. Fronterra. If you render it, use off white silicone render from Atlas as it's far longer lasting, crack resistant, won't require painting, and is resistant to algae growth. Don't mess about with sand and cement or monocouche. Then if it gets a bit grubby, the maintenance is reduced to a chemical wash to bring it back to clean.
