Living near Charlton Football Ground- thoughts on area?

Back to the drawing board on house hunting now, so looking at Charlton.

What's the area like generally for a family (2 adults and a 3yr old)?

Would being close to the football ground be a really bad idea?

I can see it's not a huge capacity, and not sure what attendance is like, but it's putting me off looking at the property.

It will be chaos on match days. And noisy at mid week matches, which end at 2145.

As person with zero clue on football, that's a really helpful point.
I assumed noise at weekends, but didn't realise there were midweek matches.

We lived near the football ground for a couple of years and had no problems whatsoever - the only annoying thing was the fact that roads were closed around the area for a few hours on match days so we had to prepare if we needed to drive during that time. Other than that it was fine and we ended up getting membership tickets; Charlton is quite a family focused club and you'll find that the fans are pretty respectful and there are lots of children and families that go on match day so it's really not as bad as you might imagine. I'd personally go for it if the house is perfect, Charlton is a great place to live and has a really strong community which we loved.

Thank you @Stillwinston
I don't know anything about Charlton so didn't realise it was a family orientated club.
My only experience is of Newcastle United so a much bigger stadium.

I'll not rule it out just yet then.
I will have to ask more questions before viewing though as I don't want a repeat of my last disaster viewing.

Have you considered other areas of Charlton?
Charlton slopes is nice with walking distance to both westcombe park station and charlton station. It has the added advantage of being in walking distance to blackheath standard with pubs butcher fish and chips, closer to blackheath village itself. It is also walking distance to greenwich park. There are a couple of excellent nurseries and primary schools.

Thanks @Saga21

We ended up putting on offer on a property in Addiscombe.
Still going through the process. Hoping we've not rushed our decision, but we decided just to go for it.
Beggars can't be choosers and all that. Our budget was always going to limit our options.
