Searches- how long ?

8 replies

Blueshoes1200 · 02/07/2024 20:36

I know this can probably vary, but online is giving me a variety of answers.

We are waiting for searches to come back on the property we are buying, and also the searches on the house.

We are all ready to go apart from the searches (3 house chain but only 2 buying )

Just looking for some people's experiences with this

Thank you

Mine have taken ages for my purchase. I was told on the 22nd May that they were applied for, solicitor got them back today.

I was told 18th June, then 26th

I live in Stoke

@BG2015 oh wow that's a long time! How frustrating!

Made even more frustrating by the fact that the original house we offered on (but pulled out of because of rising damp) someone bought those searches off me. Lucky them!

@BG2015 oh no!! What a nightmare 😩

You can Google the local authority and find out how long searches are taking them. It varies enormously between areas.

My team (I am a LA manager ) generally complete a search on the same day as receipt, some conveyancers fib and blame the local authority.

I would call the team direct and check turnaround times and also if they have received the search requests.

@taczilla I did wonder that

Blueshoes1200 · 04/07/2024 07:27

@taczilla thank you for your reply! I did speak to my solicitor yesterday who informed me they've all come back, apart from the local authority one which she expects to take a bit longer
