Painting over old plaster - advice please

I’ve stripped the wall paper, now it’s time to start painting.
The walls are in OK condition, just a few holes that need to be filled & sanded, my question is do I need to do anything special before painting?
Do I need a mist coat? Do I need to use a special primer?
Most things online talk about new plaster, where as this is old, dry plaster.

First thing I would do after stripping back wallpaper would be to wash and rinse every wall thoroughly to remove all old glue, dirt and grease. Old glue can show up under new paint as lumps. Washing will give you a clean dry surface for proper adherence of new treatment.

Then you can fill holes and scratches, then sand. Skim the entire surface for a perfect finish. Use a professional primer coat, then check for flaws. Second prime coat then 2 coats of decorative finish. Good luck!
