Can anyone tell me what this is that has appeared on my window over night? It a sort of foamy looking texture. The windows are very old in a listed building and badly need replaced but concerned as to what this is and if it is something sinister that means they need replaced sooner than I planned for!

CharlieBalf · 24/06/2024 12:14

Megifer · 24/06/2024 12:18

I've just removed it. About 1inch long and didn't seem to be filled with eggs. More of a jelly type texture.

Weirdly have never noticed spiders in the house so now very confused!

Put it in a little Tupperware or something and see what happens!

The little black bits in foreground also suggest spider poo 😃

Given the rot on that window and the black mould I am gonna say it’s fungal.

I live in the countryside and my windows are full of spider sacs. Firstly they nest on the outside - even though every critter can get IN them, secondly they always nest pretty much underneath the corners of each pane, and thirdly their sacs (I have dozens of them right now) are about the size of a ladybird. They have actually just given birth to hundreds of tiny babies over the last two weeks but it looks to me like it is only ever 1 adult spider per sac (I washed a bunch of them away this weekend - one adult scampered out of each one). You can see one little bulge on the attached picture.

Please get your windows seen to. Black mould is extremely hazardous to health. I first started getting symptoms of M.E. after a year of exposure and it plays havoc with respiratory systems.
