Hi everyone,

I am a 30 years old female who is trying to have a baby and looking to move house.

We currently live in a 2 bed flat in Bristol. We love our area but we can’t seem to find any houses we like that’s within our budget so we are thinking of moving out of Bristol.

We come across these new developments in Newport, Berkeley and was wondering what’s in like living there?
The developments we are looking at are situated on a busy A Road which cars seem to go past very fast and the road itself is quite loud. So we are quite concern about this.

What are your thoughts on living near a busy road? or thoughts on living in/near Newport, Berkeley?

I would locate your nearest shops and see if you are happy with this

Very fast road, despite the speed limit
I guess the development is on the old Newport towers motel..not aware of any shops , schools etc Berkeley would be nearest, why not try Wotton , charfield , dursley, cam. Newport was just somewhere to drive through..

I used to live in Berkeley Heath and I really like the area. I wouldn't live on the side of the A38 though, if that's the road you're talking about.

They are along the A38. I would be more concerned about the complete lack of any facilities. There is a nursery. But no shops, doctor etc.

Have you considered hopping over the Bridge into Wales? The Caldicot/ Chepstow areas are good, but much cheaper and it's still easy to commute to Bristol? You could also consider the Forest of Dean.

We have been looking at nearly every places in Wotton Charfield and Kingswood but a lot of them we were either outbid or too expensive for us or some of them has too much problem with the property that needs 10K+ work done so it’s simply not feasible
