Would you get a new roof without an insurance backed guarantee?

Small flat extension roof needs redoing - would you use a company with lots of recommendations, decent prices, 5 years old offering 10 year guarantee but not insurance backed? I'm thinking not?

If it’s a fairly small roof and they had happy customers and the price was ok yes I would. I think the chance of getting an insurance payout if the roof did fail would be pretty slim these days. Building work is a nightmare where most people try to wriggle out of their responsibilities

Surely if a guarantee is insurance backed that means it would be honoured?

Well in theory but they would most likely argue it was another reason beyond their control
