Damaged plasterboard help!

Hello,

We've been taking off woodchip wallpaper from the living room wall and some of the plasterboard has cracked / damaged, pretty badly in one place, see pics.

Any ideas on how to fix this? On a massive budget so really hoping for a DIY fix! Or are we going to have to get it all replaced 😫? Behind is breeze block and is the staircase wall. 1960s house.

Thanks in advance.

For the small cracks you can use a bonding plaster - def a diy job, you will need to sand it down once dry to get a smooth enough finish to paint though.

For larger areas of cracks/holes normally you cut on an area around the plaster board and replace it with a new piece then plaster that in as above.

Scrape out the loose bits with a filling knife.

Paint with PVA.

Go to tool station and get a bag of powdered Easyfill. Mix it up to a cream cheese consistency. Apply with a scraper, let dey and sand back flat.

Mesh tape it before you cover it and it won't re crack. Use a decent filler and sand before painting.
