Do you ever regret moving?

We are renting a very cute one bedroom apartment. The problem is, it's too small to have more than two friends over for dinner, and we can't have people stay overnight as the only toilet is through the bedroom and the only entrance is into the living room.

I want to move to a two bed (same price as further out). But dp wants to stay in tis apartment as he says we wouldn't find something so nice for the money so central if we moved. I do see his point. But you can't live somewhere for years based on just that.

So wondering. Has anyone regretted moving and 'losing' their previous property?

I moved 3 yrs ago and don't regret it at all! DH and I were between zone 1-2 in London for 20yrs, in a 2bed flat. We did have friends stay, but even that felt small sharing 1 bathroom- and ours wasn't via our bedroom 😬
Would a new area affect your commute much? Have you seen anything in your price range? How old are you?

We moved last November after being in our previous house for nearly 17 years. It was a small 3 bed semi but with a growing family the pressures on space was growing as was the irritations around parking. We moved to a much larger property which on paper works but in reality has been a complete disaster and plunged me into depression over the regret of leaving our previous house and now looking back we allowed little things to irritate us which really were not a big deal. We would go back in a heartbeat but rarely do houses come up in that location.

Been in our current property since 1991 and it is currently SSTC so will be on the move before Big Ben chimes in 2025 hopefully! We had our offer accepted on a new property about a month ago.

33 years in a property - there are so many memories but we’ve thought about this move for over a year now so not a rash decision!
Ask me the same question in 6-12 months time and I’ll tell you.

That said. Our first home we purchased in 1986, it was a small 2 bed terraced house - completely run down when we purchased it for £13,000!!! We sold it in 1991 for £35k. The house was ok for just two of us but it was so cramped! It’s only around the corner from where we live now so we occasionally drive past. Looked at rightmove and it last sold in 2014 for £110k and the property looks completely different - extension to the kitchen as well as a loft conversion! Looks nice…. But I’m still glad we sold and moved to where we are now!
