I am looking to replace an aging 3x 3 conservatory with a small sungle storey extension but I have no idea of costs or where to start getting quotes. Can anyone give me any advice. What would be a reasonable ball park figures and how do I avoid getting a cowboy builder? Thanks in advance.

Do a search in MN for ‘extension cost’.
First answer, 3k per m2. So approx 30k.

Where are you? A friend was quoted a lot more than that recently.

I am based in South East Wales

I had a 3.8 x 5.3 single storey extension built last year and my build cost was £38000. There was extra for architect, engineer and planning. Always look for a recommendation and see some work first.

We’ve just had a bill for almost 30k just for the foundations, drains and slab!

Not only will you be paying to build an extension, you will also be paying to remove the existing conservatory.

We sold our conservatory on eBay. The couple that bought it dismantled it.
