Epsom Thames Water Treatment Works

We are looking at a house on Victoria Place which backs on to the Thames Water Treatment Works site in Epsom (off East Street).

Does anyone know if it is a working site and if it could be built on?

Any views generally on that area to live?

Hi OP. I don't know anything about the water treatment plant, but I was passing Victoria Place today and drove down to see what it's like. Although East St itself is busy with lots of cars and buses, a theatre school, blocks of flats, a dentist, shops and cafes, Victoria Place is set back from all this and seemed like a little oasis of tranquility. It's a cul-de-sac, so not much traffic. It looked like a family area (push chairs folded in porches, cats strolling around), and a low crime area (washing hanging out to dry in the gardens), no litter or graffiti. I thought it looked nice!

It's very close to a big Sainsburys and the Rainbow Leisure Centre, which does swimming lessons, gym etc, and only a short walk to the High Street. There is a small travellers' site at Conifer Park, about 15mins walk away, but I'm not aware of any particular issues there.

Hopefully somebody will be along soon with more info about the Thames Water site.

This is from 2000 but refers to redevelopment...

On a side note, I didn't think that Thames Water bothered treating water these days, just pump all the 'stuff' into any convenient water course.
