Damp survey recommendations

I am buying a basement flat fixer upper. It does have moisture in walls as measured by a damp meter. I would like to have a damp survey by a professional that tries to find out the cause of the problem and potential solutions rather than recommending injecting a chemical mixture. Does any one have any recommendations? Property is in the Paddington, w2 area. Thanks very much!

No idea for London, but always worth going for a legitimate survey and any works that offer a guarantee - especially if planning on selling.

Do you know the history of the flat? Most basement flats have undergone work and damp prevention by now. There’s half a chance someone has already had chemical injections done.
Personally I wouldn’t touch an old basement apartment. New ones are fine, old ones money and damp pits.
