Electric Water heater hissing?

Hi all,

i don’t know if I’m being really paranoid or if I’m imagining things but I think my electric water heater is making a hissing sound when on? I’ve checked and can’t see any leaks around it and the hot water flow is completely fine but I keep hearing a slight hissing sound. It does make a click when heating which recently has got slightly louder. It’s only on for an hour in the morning and a hour and a half in the evening.

The heater is in my kitchen next to my fridge. I’m not sure if these noises are the fridge and I’m being paranoid but I’m concerned if it’s the heater.

Please can someone help as I feel so panicky and scared to be home as I live also and feel like I’m being daft

Switch it off for a while and see if it stops. If so, maybe thermostat isn't working. If you're in doubt tomorrow, photo an engineer to check.

When it’s off during the day and rest of the night it’s silent, it’s only when it’s actually heating it’s making the noise. In the morning when it’s on I never notice but it’s always at night I hear it.
