Bold or interesting carpet for stairs

Hello, we are planning to have dark grey carpets all of the areas upstairs (minus bathrooms). I am struggling to land on carpets for the stairs that blend into dark grey but is at the same time bold and/or interesting.

Any ideas?

In the downstairs it is all wooden floors.

I wouldn't try to blend, I would use a colourful runner, like Roger Oates. We had this one in a former house, and a plain carpet on the landing.

Dunelm have some interesting stair runners, I'm strangely drawn to the ombré rainbow one and trying to figure out if 8 can make it work.

I would choose something with a graphic pattern , not flowers or swirls.

Checks, stripes, hexagonal etc would marry well with the shapes of staircase. I would still use neutral colours- grey/ white or white / black., etc.

A local carpet shop should be able to make you anything you want - whipping the edge is pretty easy as is edging carpet/sisal with leather/tape etc - you don’t always need to choose from specific runner stock. That said, Roger Oates stuff is my fave because of the bold colour choices.

I should say that Roger Oates runners are NOT CHEAP, but I've had them in two different houses now (and our current house has a lot of stairs) and they're beautiful and good quality.
