Hi folks. My LL has agree to change our cowls if we can find ones that lower noise levels. Her builder has told her lowering the existing ones won't do anything.
The noise circulates in the chimney breast and keeps my OH awake during storms - of which, we have many. I walked into his room (which doesn't have a fire) a few weeks ago and it sounded like there was a gale in there :(
The actual fire is a multi fuel wood burner - just a standard stove -, and, as far as I can see, looks to be installed fairly well (but she does have form for employing people who make a hash of things).
I wonder if there's some sort of wind-minimising cowl type in existence, for people like us who live in a wind tunnel?
