Neighbours really pissing me off..

Cluelessfirstimer · 04/06/2024 20:06

Trying to keep this from being too outing...

We live in a cul de sac of 8 houses. 6 of my neighbours are angels and amazing. Then there is one couple...

They are the only ones who rent in the cul de sac. Nothing wrong with that and I'm not saying it negatively but it's a point to a few points below.

They constantly take the piss. Have their 3 young children outside "painting" the ground. Wouldn't care but they were painting with real paint..! They have been asked numerous times to clean it up by all the other neighbours but just ignore it.

They have several cars and take other people's spaces without any consideration.

Leave rubbish just in the middle of the cul de sac - i dont mean crisp packets i mean unwanted armchairs.

They are also just rude in general. We have all approached them about all these issues (and more) and they just shrug, laugh and walk away.

What can we do?! I don't know their landlord to make a complaint.

Contact their landlord.

Do a land registry search for a few quid to find out the landlord

Ahhh ok - thanks. I'll see if I can find them

Google the address, find out which letting agent let it, contact them for details? Report the armchairs as fly tipping to the council. Block their cars in for days on end if parked incorrectly.

SharpWriter · 04/06/2024 20:13

When you say they take other people's parking spaces, what do you mean? They park on your drive/park in spaces allocated to others?

Cluelessfirstimer · 04/06/2024 20:14

We actually only use one of our parking spaces but I have been very close to calling a few friends who have extra cars to park in the other ones while they are out.

DP thinks that's vindictive and nasty. We own them and I'm at the stage of being that bitch to be honest...

I'll search and see what info I can get for their landlord.

Will tell the council about the fly tipping and neighbour has a camera so hopefully they caught it.

I really dislike resorting to these sort of things but I've had enough. It's the attitude that makes me sick.

Yeah think these are common problems everywhere I'm sure! It's just so annoying.

The paint is the biggest one as one of the children has written "fuck" all across the middle of our beautiful cul de sac which is just lovely.

Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully I can dig up the landlord details. We have all been overly polite to them about this for too long

I don't want to be negative about renters too but the house next door to mine has gone downhill since it became a rental property.

OldTinHat · 07/06/2024 19:19

Try having a white painted disabled bay allocated to your car and see how that goes!

Mouswife · 28/06/2024 13:46

I would ring social services. young children should not be handling paint - let alone writing swear words on the road. These parents need checking .

GasPanic · 28/06/2024 15:51

I would probably complain to the council and the landlord. If they are that badly behaved their relationship with the landlord may be strained and the landlord might be looking to remove them anyway. If they are painting outside on the roads imagine the damage they might be doing to the inside of the house !

If the paint is permanent then I would report it to the council. I have no idea what they would do about it, whether it would be construed as damage to the road etc.

Edit : It seems from a quick google it is covered by the Highways Act 1980.

Classic not reading the OP!

Cluelessfirstimer · 28/06/2024 20:45

Thanks for all your replies.

As stated I have no idea who their landlord is but I will try and look into it further.

I reported the fly tipping and the paint to the council so will see if anything comes of that. Some of the paint has been cleared up - one of my other neighbours took it upon themselves to sort out. Shouldn't have to come to that!

there's nothing wrong with renters. the landlord is the problem. they clearly don't care about the neighbourhood.

RoseberrryTopping · 29/06/2024 18:51

Probably not the thread for you @CaptainOliviaBenson Grin

OP - I think it's time for a concerted effort with your neighbours to block as many of these behaviours as you can. Along with reporting to the relevant bodies each and every single time

Unicorntastic · 29/06/2024 19:18

Evidence it all and ring around all the letting agents and find the landlord, i did this once when i had neighbour issues, literally rang them all until i found them .

@CaptainOliviaBenson

yours was the first reply.
