Relocate to Norwich

After many months of looking at Cambridge, Suffolk and Essex, we have now settled on Norwich as the right place for our family to relocate from London.

We are now torn between Eaton and Thorpe st Andrew and hoped for some advice, please? Considerations for us:

Schools - We have a 5 year old and a 3 year old, so schools are important. Eaton seems to win on this.
Trains - We also need good access to the train station for a commute to London once a week. Both are comparable for this.
Green spaces/park - we love Eaton park but TSA has the advantage of the riverside.
Local facilities - we would like at least 1 coffee shop and a pub within walking distance - both have these.
Period properties - Eaton seems to win on this as the houses are pretty, but more probably more expensive.

Any further reflections or thoughts would be super helpful!

Eaton, hands down! Absolutely no contest. Once you are in Eaton you will hanker to be even closer to the city so look at NR2 as well. Great schools in Eaton & NR2/NR4.

Happy to chat over DM if it helps.

Thanks so much! We have struggled to find places in NR2 with a decent sized garden.. but am keeping a watch on RightMove!

Okay - controversial but…. You need the large enough garden (assuming you mean for DC) for quite a short window. The parks here are insanely good. The schools, ditto. The community, shops, whole vibe. I know I sound bonkers… what’s the budget?

Where are you going to be working? If in the city centre I'd choose Thorpe St Andrew, which is also much closer to the train station. I prefer TSA personally, much nicer feel and some lovely pubs and cafés near the river.

Eaton has lovely river walks and the grounds around UEA (Earlham Park) are great too.
