We have left the hall/stairs/landing as the last house renovation job to avoid wall damage etc while we did the other areas. The current bannisters look like they have had multiple paint jobs over the decades. Feeling unsure how to best go about this to avoid causing mess. Sanding all railings and spindles would take forever and cause so much dust to decorated rooms. Has anyone used paint stripper on bannisters? Be keen to hear your verdict. DH thinks easier just to buy a whole new bannister/spindles which seems rather extreme to me!
