Hi
My partner rents a property
The bathroom has a shower and extractor fan
But no window
And the extractor fan is not mega near the shower.
He has a dehumidifier in there that collects water / moisture. ..

Any ideas what he can do re lack of ventilation in bathroom / ... improving the quality / condition of that bathroom etc

He makes sure he doesnt leave wet towels or wet flannels in there

Thank you

For the past 13 years, I've lived in a flat with a bathroom with no window.

I don't love it, but it's not a dealbreaker.

I've never ever had a problem with damp in there, but I would say leave the door open as much as possible. Or at least not properly shut closed.

First thing you can do is take the top off the extractor and see if there's a bunch of gunk in there that needs cleaning out.

Second thing you can do is to leave it on for a very long time after a bath/shower.

Keeping showers to warm rather than hot may help a little bit too, or baths rather than showers.

I find most internal bathrooms never have extractors strong enough to actually do the job they are meant to do.

Check the extractor is working correctly, always used and if it's connected to the light switch and doesn't stay on particularly long after the light goes off leave the light on for longer. Some can have the run time adjusted. Also always use a squeegee to remove as much water from the shower screen and walls - the less residual water after showering the less time it takes for the bathroom to dry out. It also makes it much easier to clean particularly in hard water areas. Only run the shower when needed, don't have it running whilst actually washing - less water equals less steam. Make sure bathroom door is closed when in use so steam isn't escaping elsewhere in the house.

Lots of new builds don’t have windows in bathrooms now and I am talking 4 bedroom houses not just flats.
