Moving to Bromley South station

Hi All,

I hope everyone is doing well.

We're considering buying a property near Bromley South Station. I was wondering if anyone could share their views on living in the area, particularly around Murray Avenue or South View Road, they all fall in the BR1 postcode, we're looking at the BR2 postcode as well but properties are more expensive there.

How is it to live in the area, particularly regarding safety? My husband has to go to the office daily, and there is no WFH option for him. So more concerned about safety, we don't drive yet as we have no car and need to learn to drive, which we will eventually do.

I would appreciate your suggestions and it'll help us make decisions.

Thank you

Also, suggestions on good catchment areas around good primary schools, so we can search for properties in those areas.

I grew up on Bishop's Avenue as a teenager and loved it. Always felt very safe. It was a good few years ago so it may have changed but it is a great area, and easy to get to the station and into town. I went to school in central London so can't help on local schools.

I pass through there at all hours of the day and night and I’ve never felt unsafe.

i live on Coldharbour Land in Brixton though, so my thresholds might be higher than yours! On a Friday night you do get groups of tipsy people heading into London, or home from a night out. That’s the worst of it though, and they seem tipsy rather than scary.

Perfectly safe. I have some friends who go to St Marks, and rate it highly. I believe it's a CofE school if that's an issue, though.

Bromley schools are excellent. You don't mention if you have kids but it's a big plus of the area. Plus the shops are good! You'll have drunken pouts as mentioned above but it's not an unsafe area.

Hi, thanks for your reply. We don't have kids yet but hopefully soon 🤞🏼 hence the emphasis on safety in the area
