Sevenoaks?

What's Sevenoaks like for family living? Looks like Riverhead and Sevenoaks primary are both ok - and Knowles Academy for secondary - is that right? Any ideas how big the catchment areas are (want to be able to walk to Sevenoaks station for the London commute, need to get to Canary Wharf)? State school only. Alternative location ideas welcome!

Have been to Sevenoaks town centre, but the schools seems to not really be nearby so it wouldn't be that close if we live nearer school.

Also, what's the vibe there? Is it mostly people moving there for private schools (which we can't afford)? I am surprised at being able to find a few 3 bed properties there for under 700k, maybe I'm missing something.

If you are not wanting the particular schools then there are other areas in Kent / East Sussex where you will get much better value for money and equally good or better state options . Do remember that Kent is a grammar area so the non grammars are high schools .

I guess my point is though it seems there are a few places in Sevenoaks for less than 700k, which I thought wouldn't be possible, but maybe it's a bad end of town...

Sevenoaks town is expensive! You can look at surrounding villages as well, I found them okay. There's no area that's 'bad' by London standards, some areas do seem to be more desirable for whatever reasons though. But why Sevenoaks? There's so many places in Kent with the fast train into London but not this expensive!

Bromley, Beckenham, Chislehurst have great schools, easy commutes and you'll find a house under 700k,

Hi there , one thing we are worried about in Sevenoaks as Asian parents is the mix . Does anyone what the diversity ratio is in Amherst in a class of 30 . I appreciate it’s not a great question , but as a mum , I do not want my daughter to be the only brown girl in a class of 30.
