Should I buy contents insurance before I move in

Are you buying or renting? If you're buying, you need buildings insurance for the sake of the mortgage, though you might aswell get contents insurance with it if it works out cheaper, which it probably will.

Yes, should you need to claim it makes the process easier. The additional cost to add contents should be insignificant.

I have a similar question too. Buying a property (1st time buyer) do we need buildings and contents insurance in place before we buy? What happens if the sale falls through?

Also, how do we instruct a surveyor? Through the bank that we are having a mortgage from?
