Hello,

The front of my living room with window is next to a busy road. Any ideas on what I could use to soundproof it
Would book cases work?

The main thing is to fill gaps and deaden the sound. If the bookcases cover the entire window maybe, but there are some other ways depending if you want the light from the window.
Can you replace the window with a triple-glazed one? If there are gaps where the window is installed, there is a thing called acoustic caulk which is a cheaper option. Soundproofing curtains or honeycomb blinds can help.

Yes can maybe replace window with double glazed. Not really bothered about light from window. There isn't any gaps I can see its a brick plaster wall

Triple glazed is a game changer rather than double glazed for noise. REALLY makes a big difference.

Triple glazing is amazing! It really cuts down noise.

Another strong recommendation for triple glazing, it silences everything.
