DIY stair runner advice

Has anyone done this? The stair runner I wanted originally is apparently only available via pictures on instagram & pintrest so im going to go for a plain one and put frim it with a flanged btaid after install. And I've seen people laying stair runners themselves and they look great and easy. But we do have turns on one staircase. What are your top tips - from chosing the type of stair runner ( eg I'm not going to chose stripes because I know I won't get them to match up perfectly). Thank you!

Do you use Instagram? I follow Dunelm’s account and a couple of months ago, they collaborated with a DIYer using their stair runner. It looked quite easy. The runner was from Dunelm and I think more than one piece was used because of a turn in the stairs.

A carpet shop can create a runner from any carpet with the type and colour of trim you want. For turns, you cut it and staple in a way that disguises the cut, a stair rod could hide the cut - we’re planning similar.
