It's probably some sort of drugs, but based on the style otherwise, I'm going to say they were going for a dystopian future vibe.

FusionChefGeoff · 19/05/2024 09:30

Yeah what's with the industrial kitchen???

the80sweregreat · 19/05/2024 09:32

Those stairs are lethal

FrogTheWarrior · 19/05/2024 09:34

oreo2024 · 19/05/2024 09:19

And see the collection of spectacles on the stand in conservatory 😃

Those belong to the victims buried in the garden pit. Who were murdered by being pushed down those stairs 😯

AliCantI · 19/05/2024 09:38

It looks like a house where natural light never penetrated. It’s got a 90s Hacienda-meets-serial-killer vibe with a bit of sex-trafficking-HQ thrown in. Grim doesn’t cover it.

CassandraProphesying · 19/05/2024 09:42

Definitely the sort of place Walter White would be upgrading to from the RV.

Yeah what's with the industrial kitchen???

I think it's a meth or other drug house- used for cooking up drugs.
That huge tube/vent to the outside looks like it comes from the kitchen- in the pic, to the right.

I'm not sure that style will catch on 🤔

Gosh that’s a peach that one @reallyalurker 😁 it’s about £100k less (depending) on what it sells for but it’s not worth the time and cost, it needs giving away.

cryinglaughing · 19/05/2024 07:16

Wet room in the conservatory 🤣
The whole house is utterly bizarre.
Why do all the appliances/bathroom fittings have 'do not use' tape across them when the house looks like it is has been lived in recently 🤔

Edited

They've turned the water off, presumably, so don't want anyone to use the loo.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2024 10:08

What on earth is the lidded pit thing in the garden?

stillcovidhere · 19/05/2024 10:10

I don't know what's going on but I don't think it's a drug factory. It's had a lot of expensive "renovations" made - neigbours would have been aware of building materials being brought to and taken away from site.

Drugs factories are usually unassuming rental properties and the perpetrator doesn't expect to stay more than 6 months without being noticed - then they flee. You can't flee if you own the property, which they clearly do because only an owner could make all those changes to the house.

I thought it was a raised bed for growing veg etc, but actually now I'm not sure.

It has a lot of metalwork and some machinery. Really odd given there are indeed plants round it.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2024 10:13

Looking up the stairs, I wonder if the upstairs is just gutted with only stud work. The only thing you can see is plain pine coloured wood like you use for the stud work of walls.

This would make a bloody brilliant episode of Inside Number 9 / Tales of the Unexpected.

KnitnNatterAuntie · 19/05/2024 07:17

I've got no idea what that house is all about but those of us who live in a nearby city never mention the name of the city this house is in. This house just proves what we believe about the people who live there 😂

Rather be a Scummer than a Skate 😜

NotIAm · 19/05/2024 10:26

Did it used to be a takeaway or something? That’s a very catering looking kitchen with an industrial extraction set up.

JustPleachy · 19/05/2024 10:37

I think it’s just really poor taste, that someone has spent money to do. I guess they were going for an industrial/loft vibe but really badly. If it was a meth lab, they wouldn’t have bothered with things like the weird staircase, or any kind of decoration. If it was a grow house then the who place would be given over to that. Instead there are things like ceilings which have been ripped out, but presumably for the industrial warehouse look.

I’d still like to know what the hell that is in the garden though! A raised flower bed, but with some sort of electrical/hydraulic system and a large hatch?

OldTinHat · 19/05/2024 10:46

Is that some kind of nuclear bunker in the garden?

blockyears · 19/05/2024 10:49

It's like they're trying to create the 'feel' of an industrial New York loft but inside the rather drab location of an ordinary semi. I think I can vaguely see the thinking behind it but obviously it falls flat.

That's going to take some serious undoing!

What on earth is the lidded pit thing in the garden?

DH thinks it may once have been a pool for breeding fancy fish, they need especially clear water and constant water temperature apparently. Clearly long since abandoned

the80sweregreat · 19/05/2024 11:10

It would take a lot of money to make it look a bit more normal and have the stairs made less dangerous too, a complete overhaul is my guess.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 19/05/2024 11:42

Looks to me as though a bloke with dogs lived there (the mats on the chairs). It's like a caravan inside the shell of a house with a very odd kitchen!

Gingernaut · 19/05/2024 11:45

That looks like a raised veg or flower bed in the garden

Add the wet room in the lean to and I'd say there was a wheelchair user about
