So we are in a fortunate position having first time cash buyers for our house. We love our current house, have done a lot of work to it over the years but the time has come for a bit more space and school catchments. Viewed a house today that although bigger and detached, has a small kitchen and small separate dining room. The garden is also smaller than our current garden and we have kids that play outside a lot. I'd say the lawn area was similar size but we currently have a spacious patio and thjs house has a smaller patio / not sure enough room for our rattan set! But it is in the right school catchment and on a lovely quiet road. It's on for £600k but it needs modernisation as it probably hasn't been touched since the 80s (albeit, very clean). It would also need a new boiler, driveway and at some point knocking the kitchen and diner through. Everything would need doing really to make it modern. It doesn't have any character either, it's a very plain 1980s house (looks a bit like a box). We could wait but a house with a bigger garden would definitely mean non detached where we are looking and likely still in need of work. What would be a suitable offer on this house or should we wait?
