Thinking of moving to this area as a lot cheaper than where I live now.
I live in Buckinghamshire but house too small for me and two kids and can get a lot more for money in Wisbech.
Advice greatly appreciated if good move or not?
Pros and cons.
Areas Wisbech or emneth what are they like?

Wisbech has some really beautiful architecture, but it's an incredibly deprived area. Quite isolated with poor transport connections, so work options in the area will be limited. I don't know what it's like post-Brexit, but it certainly used to have a very high population of eastern european immigrants doing seasonal agricultural work for very low wages, so it tends to be a very poor area. And that poverty goes back a long, long time. It means there's never been money in the are to "modernise" the beautiful historical parts, so they are very unspoilt, but there is also a lot of empty, derelict buildings too.

There's a reason you can get alot more for your money in Wisbech.

Have you been there?

No but just looking on right move at areas. Saw a house in village called emneth. Does anyone know what that's like?

Emneth is no better than Wisbech and has even less to offer than Wisbech.

The Fens are like marmite, they have a very different vibe and you either love or hate them. Before you even consider it I'd go and stay there for a week or two.

Emneth is nice - as are most of the areas outside Wisbech. I live in Upwell which I love - lovely walks, plenty of shops, fish and chips, kebab shop. Elm is quite popular too.
You’d need to be very careful about which areas in Wisbech to live - we lived nearer the Leverington end for 10 years and liked it - easy access to Spalding. Lots of not very nice areas.
you’d need to think about schools too. I personally wouldn’t recommend any primary’s in Wisbech - the reason we moved to a village. The high schools aren’t great anywhere but also not terrible. There have been huge issues this year with people not being able to get places at their catchment high school - mainly TCA and Downham Market Academy. Good transport links in Downham Market or Spalding. Peterborough even.

Should add - catchment school for Emneth is, I think Marshland - which I personally didn’t like when looking around but it has a good reputation.

I’d strongly suggest you visit the area, the fens aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
