Would you rent somewhere too small for two years?

We moved into our one bed apartment when we first moved to London. It was cheap and all we could afford three years ago.

We now earn a lot more and could afford a bigger and nicer flat. This one was last done up in the early 00s. So it feels tired. It’s not minuscule but we could definitely do with more space.

The landlord heard we were thinking of leaving and offered us a two year fix for a good price. It’s maybe £200 a month less than market rate.

I’m a bit fed up of living here. It is a lovely little flat in a great location near the underground, but I’d like to try somewhere new.

DP says think of the money we could save. We could afford to eat out more, travel more, have the heating on whenever etc

£200 a month below market rent sounds good, especially in London. Are you saving to buy a property? If so I think I would stay there to save up a deposit quicker to buy somewhere. If it’s just for more meals out etc then I would be looking around at other options.

I would do it, yes

it’s near the tube and you can save money for a more permanent home in time to come
