What are some nice areas in Nottinghamshire/ Leicestershire/ Derbyshire?

Me and my partner are relocating with our 2 year old. Our budget is around £280k. We would love to be in a village ideally with lots of families, elderly people. I know there are loads of lovely places I’ve probably never heard of so would love some suggestions of where to look!

Watnall or Matlock come to mind if you're looking for family friendly and a good selection of properties for your budget

Where is your work based?

That's a huge search area and lots of options! As pp said where's work going to be? Do you need to be close to m1 or train stations?

I work north of Arnold so wouldn’t mind a 40/ 45 min commute to there.

Depends on your work times and route. The A60 at rush hour is very frustrating and can back up quite easily if there are accidents and there is flooding at Leapool roundabout.

South Derbyshire. The bus route is actually called The Villager because it's one village after another. Willington/Hilton/Hatton/Tutbury, all worth looking at.

Arnold is about 30 miles/40 minutes. There are some nice villages between Derby and Notts though too, which might be closer. From memory Draycott, Breaston etc.

Why not Arnold itself? Or Sherwood?

PuppyMonkey · 12/05/2024 21:54

Woodthorpe? Lambley?

If you're looking at Willington, check the flood maps.

There's also Etwall in South Derbyshire which, like Hilton has good access to the A50.

Also Long Eaton and its surroundings. But I'd suggest not Ilkeston (sorry to any Ilkeston fans)
