Shared ownership query

Hello

hope I’m posting in the right section. My ex and I (partially) own a shared ownership property. We are divorcing and won’t be able to buy again, and with the kids (and massive debt accrued in marriage) I won’t be able to afford standard rent.

does anyone know if I will able to bid for housing association properties for intermediate rent? It’s really my only option but unsure if I am eligible. All advice appreciated!

Do you have to sell the flat? If you're eligible, universal credit will cover the rent and service charge on shared ownership properties. You'd just have to pay the mortgage.

Make sure he's taking on a fair share of the massive debt. Even if it is nominally in your name he canjust swan off with a share of the assets leaving you shafted and with unmanageable debt. It should be possible to make a plan where you don't lose the house but you need much more detailed professional advice than you can get on here.

Thank you both. I have made enquiries about getting legal advice.

I have also come across downward stair-casing, which may allow us (kids and i) stay in the property and take our money out of it
