Hi,

The club next door is being renovated and their plans show that their building an enclosed sports pitch with a 4m high fence around it. And a thin line of planters separating the fence from my gable wall.

I will not be able to access the gable end wall of my property to make repairs and maintain the wall in future (See image attached)

It baffles me that the council didn't think of this before approving this plan, not to mention thry seem to think they're entitled to grow plants up my wall with could cause damage.

I'm just looking for advice on how I should proceed.

Thank you.

Did you raise an objection at planning? Also, can they actually build it from their land?

The fence or individual fence panels could be removed in the unlikely event that you need to gain access to your wall for repairs or maintenance. Walls don’t generally need these things but if they did, fences are temporary and movable structures, so won’t preclude this.

Similarly, plants don’t usually cause damage to walls, so long as they’re not the clinging type. If they do plant that type and they start clinging to your wall, you can object and make them remove them. Otherwise, it might actually look quite nice.

I’d be more worried about noise from the sports court myself: constant ball bouncing and lads doing that irritating shouty swearing they seem to be unable to play games without.
