Hi 👋🏾
I originally was going to do shared ownership and then spoke to a really good mortgage broker he persuaded me otherwise. I'm mainly looking at Woolwich/thamesmead. Ideally a 2 bed but a 1 bed is fine if it's actually spacious and not like a rabbit hutch.
I have considered moving out of London, but the further up I go in my career the more I'm required in the office and out and about and when I compared the cost of moving out to somewhere like Kent or Hertfordshire, the rail fares, strikes, bad weather etc mean it's not worth it.
Max is £280k ideally £240k I am happy to have to put a new kitchen and bathroom but I don't want a property that has damp and mould or anything that would be even more costly.
I also don't want to buy in an area where the council is at risk of a section 114 a lot of estate agents keep pushing on me Croydon but I have family in Birmingham&the recent council tax hike is putting a strain on their finances and obviously that can happen with a bankrupt council in London and I don't fancy a 21% hike in CT....
I like access to green space and preferably where there is a sizable black population, close to transport (ideally tube/tram/overground) I work near London Bridge but also commute to Whitehall a lot.
Any areas you'd recommend?
