Staying in a flat you’ve outgrown

We live in a tiny one bed flat (35sqm) because when we moved to London it was all we could afford. Now that we are earning a lot more, we can afford a bigger place. But the rent we currently pay is a great deal.

It means we can save a good chunk of money and not worry about costs so much. But I am going slightly crazy at the lack of space.

How do you stay happy when you know you don’t have to stay renting the flat, but it’s a good idea financially?

I would give yourself a small budget and buy new bedding, change things around a bit, redecorate a few key elements e.g. new cushions, move the sofa, new lamps, maybe repaint? And consider what you can get rid of to make some more space or reconsider your storage solutions. Try to make the old space "new" again. It's the next best thing to moving!

How many of you live there?
Is there a plan to buy, if you stayed could you save a deposit to buy.

When I was living in a 2 bedroom flat with partner and 3 kids I found Julia Donaldson’s ‘A Squash and A Squeeze’ very conforting.
