Hi
So as per the title we are moving house..... we moved into our current property when I was pregnant with our first....so hardly any stuff 🤣fast forward and now we have 12 & 10 year old.....so ALOT more stuff 🤯🤯. We didn't even use proper removals as we were able to do it ourselves.
So please everyone who has moved recently - hit me with all your tips, hints and advice. I really have to stop procrastinating and dreading doing this as we move in 6 weeks! Obviously we are using a removal firm this time (which I still haven't booked🤣)
Thanks 😀

Have you decluttered? Because if not that would be priority #1 #2 and #3

It's a lot easier to move the less stuff you have

We moved recently & were doing tip/charity shop runs every weekend for about 6 weeks. Got rid of stuff on FB as well. Meant everything we took to the new place was useful & we were unpacked in a day.

If you can afford it book the packing service too - it's not usually loads more than the basic moving service, I think it was only a few hundred on top for us.

Declutter as much as you can.
Use proper removals.
Have them pack you. (Usually a few hundred quid on the price - worth EVERY penny).

Declutter ruthlessly. And then get the removals to pack for you, they are so much better at it.

Declutter and spend the couple of hundred quid to get the removal company to pack for you. Worth every penny-we’ve done it the last twice we’ve moved

Declutter. Make sure everything that is remaining is where it’s meant to be or where it is meant to be in the new house. Then get the removals to pack for you. They just pack that room as it is and put that in the corresponding room at the new house. Keep your box of cleaning stuff, clothes for a few nights, jewellery, toiletries, favourites books/teddies for the kids and paperwork you need immediately on the side and clearly labelled as going in the van last or in the car. Have a box with phone chargers, plasters, paracetamol etc. then agree where you’re going to put that in the new house so you can actually find it when you get all the other boxes in.
