Hot water tank-how long can the hot shower last?

Hi. I am living in a home with electricity only, and I recently replaced my vented direct hot water cylinder.

My current cylinder is about the same size as my old one and on the thermostat from 1-5, I notice if I have it on 4, my shower would gradually run cold in 15 mins. And If I have the thermostat on 5 at the maximum, I can have a decent hot shower for 15mins.

As my plumber had already messed up something and also because I feel my old cylinder gives better shower experience. I start to suspect if the immersion heater is faulty or the cylinder is not as good as my old one in terms of its shape. My older tank has a diameter of 45cm and current one is taller but diameter is only 40cm. For people know about cylinder, it can only heat the water from the lowest point of the immersion heater upwards, so I guess the wilder cylinder gives more hot water than taller ones.

Please anyone who also has a hot water cylinder at home, can you share your shower experience, so I could judge if my new cylinder is alright. Many thanks

No idea how big our cylinder is, but we would not get a hot shower for 15 minutes.

By that time all the remaining hot would be diluted and you'd be having a sad lukewarm shower.

Our poor HW cylinder usersEaster Confused. Mine is 116L (105x40cm), if yours is about the same size. What i found helpful is to turn up the thermostat on the cylinder (remember to switch off electricity beforehand) or replace the immersion heater ( mind it's length, you'd like to go for a long one normally 27", but not too long so it will be too close to the button, a plumber need to do it anyway )
