What are Feering and Earls Colne like?

Big thank you to everyone who has helped me find a house in Essex, i'm nearly there.

I'm going to choose between a house that needs some work in Feering, and a new build in Earls Colne.

The benefits I can see are:

Earls Colne - will not need anything doing to it.
Feering - near a station.

Can anyone tell me if there are any of pro's or con's of either location.

Does anyone know these areas?

I'm braintree so know them vaguely.
The a120 is a nightmare so factor that in especially with earls Colne! Except to get stuck in it a lot.
Do you need schools?

Nice areas in my opinion.
If you want nightlife that's a long way to go to chelsmford or colchester.
Taxis are few and far between if you'd need those, we are out this weekend and my friends from earls Colne had to book the taxi weeks ago.

I'd be more including to pick earls Colne if it was me, but both are really nice areas!
