Therapy thread for those in a chain trying to exchange but failing

Our house went back on the market today. The day we were due to exchange with a completion and relocation pencilled in for next week. Removals stood down and annual leave at work cancelled.

This has happened every time I have bought and sold at the same time.

We are really hoping the lovely lovely lovely house we were moments from moving in to will not also go on the market for new buyers and that the vendor will wait for us to find ourselves some new buyers and for them to re-do all the leg work our previous buyer had done - searches, surveys, conveyancing and mortgage applications.

What an absolute ballache.

Anyone else in a similar situation and care to share woes?

I am trying to stay stoic and zen as this pales into insignificance to some of the issues people are dealing with but never the less very sad not to be starting our new life next week and feeling like we are back to where we were in November when we put our house up for sale originally. Ffs.

Oh I’m gutted for you! I can’t imagine how you must be feeling for this to happen so so close to the end. I find it very hard to understand why people do this. I’ve made a promise to myself that if we get through this move I’m never moving again! Lots of love & hugs coming your way xx

That's awful @LoveRules , you must be devastated. Have your buyers given a reason? The EA should be pressing for an answer if not.

I can't understand how this can happen so late in the process and how people can do it, unless their circumstances have changed very dramatically. Surely any issues with the survey or searches would have come to light before now? A surveyor who came to mine (the second one to visit after two previous sales fell through at different stages) said he had known some people proceed with more than one property and then go with the preferred one right at the end.

I hope you get lots of viewings and a new buyer soon. At least the market seems to be picking up a bit.

May I recommend this thread if you feel you need some moral support along the way:

That sounds tough, many sympathies. Why did you buyer drop out at such a late stage ?
