To buy a house near a potential building site?

We are considering two properties located near what can potentially become a new development of flats (currently a small shopping centre) and I am a bit concerned it's a risky move. It isn't the block itself that would be an issue but mainly the idea of living next to a building site for potentially a long time, including any potential health risks for all the dust etc. DD's primary school would also be located right next to the building site, is it a silly idea?

Hi! I’ve bought 3 new properties over the years and 2 of those have been at the very start of an estate build. It does get a bit dusty in the summer but most builders try their best to keep it to a minimum ie sweeping & cleaning the roads at the end of the day. In my experience the builders want to complete the project asap and the longest it’s actually gone on for is about 18 months. They also usually finish with a nice bit of landscaping and keep in mind they will usually have a management company to look after the green spaces around the site. It certainly wouldn’t put me off buying a house near it, as it’s a short term inconvenience and will probably look a lot nicer than what was there before. Good luck with whatever you decide.
